Gearing Up for HITEC: “What Hotels Are Really Talking About in 2025”

“Nothing has changed—but everything has.”

That’s the sentiment we keep hearing from hoteliers around the country. Yes, occupancy rates and RevPAR are still essential KPIs. But the conversation has evolved: How do we now connect those numbers to guest experience, reputation, and operational efficiency—without burning out our teams?

There’s no magic bullet. But here’s the truth: the most powerful tools to bridge those goals
already exist.

Technology. AI. Self-Service.
By now, that should be obvious. Since 2020, the biggest research firms and tech leaders have
been shouting it from the rooftops. But we get it—hospitality is about people. We all love our
staff (and on most days, even our GMs). Great people are the backbone of any hotel.

So what if we could help those great people thrive, reduce their stress, and simultaneously give
guests exactly what they want: a simple, fast, personal experience?

Yes, I said personal—because self-service doesn’t mean cold or robotic. When done right, it
empowers staff and delights guests.

The Warning You Can’t Ignore

Let’s be clear:

If your hotel doesn’t embrace modern technology in the next five years, you’ll miss the
most powerful operational and guest experience leap of the 21st century.

It’s already happening—you just haven’t fully seen it yet.

So, what should you do? What should you actually be focusing on before walking into HITEC?

3 Practical Tech Steps Hotels Must Take (Yes, Today)

1. Start With the PMS (and Its API)

If your property management system doesn’t have an open API—ditch it.

Why? Because APIs are the bridge. They connect your PMS to the other tools that automate processes, improve guest engagement, and support self-service.

Reminder: PMS platforms are not self-service systems. Some try to be, but let’s keep roles
clear.

2. Check Your Locks

Your digital locks need to connect—easily. Look for options with APIs, SDKs, and ideally,
mobile key capabilities (especially mobile web). Physical keys aren’t going away yet, but make
sure your infrastructure is flexible enough to evolve.

3. Choose a Self-Service System That Adapts to You

Your kiosk or self-service platform shouldn’t dictate your tech stack. It should connect to what
you already use—PMS, lock systems, booking engines, and more.

This isn’t just “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” It’s smart, resilient system design.

For the Multi-Property, Multi-Market Hotel Groups

We know it’s complicated. Some of you have properties around the world, different vendors, and
non-standardized setups. And yes, big brands have their own trade-offs.

The tech is always evolving. But the principles stay the same:

  • Does it enhance your existing investments and help you grow?
  • Can your team and vendors support it without friction?
  • If it stops working, can you pivot easily?

That’s the bar.

Final Thoughts: All-in-One or Best-in-Class?

Honestly? You can Google the debates—or ask ChatGPT.

The biggest companies in the world don’t try to do it all themselves. They build flexible ecosystems, connect with the right partners, and adapt. That’s the model we believe in—and it’s how we’ve helped clients around the World.

A Personal Note From the CEO of TrueOmni

I didn’t build this technology to just make money. I built it because I saw what was possible in
my own hotels.

  •  Over the last 5 years, we saved nearly $60,000/year per property
  •  We increased revenue by 15%
  •  And most importantly, my staff embraced it—even after some initial pushback.

Now? They see what I saw. The future.

If you’re heading to HITEC and want to have a real conversation about how to do this in your
hotels, I’d love to connect. This isn’t a trend. It’s your competitive edge. Talk with our team and
ask around we are small but mighty and our technology and team works as hard as you do.

Have a great show and here is a great 2025…
