Key Goals:

With the growing number of visitors, the State of Kentucky needed a tech provider that would supply sufficient local information on top of what the local welcome center staff can support. This initiative is amining to:

  • Provide local information and pre-made itineraries for visitors and easily have this accessible all around the state
  • Use technology to connect and gather visitor information for future sales and marketing initiatives
  • Support international travelers
  • Promote local shops and tourist spots while finding ways to pay for the initial investment

Solution:

True Omni was granted the RFP for State Tourism to deploy stand-alone touch units to serve as a central information hub.

Hardware

  • 6 indoor standing kiosks: With Cameras, with custom-branded full-body graphic wrap based on Kentucky Tourism’s branding. These units will be spread throughout the State’s Visitor Centers to provide visitors with up-to-date information on what to do and where to go.

Software

  • Content Management System (CMS): An integrated platform that allows real-time updates.
  • Data Tools: Data collection tools were implemented to gather information on visitor demographics, behaviors, and preferences.
  • Data & Events: Integrated with the city’s event management systems, ensuring that visitors had access to up-to-date event listings and information.
  • Analytics: Analytic tools to gain valuable insights into visitor preferences and patterns.

Extensions

  • Advertising: Feature local businesses and stockholders on any of the screens for brand promotion, as well as return on investment
  • Guestbook and Survey: Gather visitor information and provide rewards as they fill out Kentucky’s custom surveys
  • Photobooth: Custom-made backgrounds, frames and emojis for fun visitor souvenirs while using Kentucky’s hashtags
  • Google: All round integration with Google providing basic local information to users with email and text-to-self capabilities
  • Faces: Demographic recognition feature allowing kiosks to determine the gender, age, and ethnicity of their visitors
